Something is Coming.

Ominous title = this blog entry. Of course, it always does.

I've been tearing away, brainstorming... which really just means I've been sitting at the computer all day, playing my favorite computer game series called Total War for hours on end, hoping an idea would pop into my brain, one that could propel me to writing.


Well, I am doing just. Right now, I am on the early stages of a new project. The current title is called Lifeless. It's a working title, of course. It will consist of three short stories, in a sort of novelette format, around fifteen to twenty thousand words each. It focuses on the subject of morality, and attempting to maintain and possible regain humanity during a long and arduous post-apocalyptic world, one that is filled with the likes of murderers, rapists, thieves, and liars. It's a dangerous world, and made even worse by the inclusion of undead, hungry creatures.
Over and over, apocalyptic stories have an underlying theme: those who posses and try to keep a sense of morality, a sense of human dignity, are killed outright. It is a survival of the fittest in the new, drastically changed world, and everyone must conform, or die. Few stories focus on the good of human, and the generosity many can provide.

Again, the story will consist of three short novels. I will not say when it will be published. As time goes by, I will provide more information of the story, and possibly a plotline.

Important Announcement!

So, here we are. July 20th, 2013, it is almost ten in the morning on the east coast, and by the time I'm finished this little piece here, It'll probably be ten. So let's get on with it, shall we?

So, I've been working hard. Against the Line has been a slow process, almost too slow according to a writer's definition. It's been three years since this first idea came into inception. First it was called Invasion, and I barely had an idea what I was doing. The concept of writing novels didn't exist in my head. I just wrote whatever seemed intelligent at the time, and believe me when I say it sure didn't look anywhere close to a novel, not even anywhere close to the worst novel ever made. It sucked, basically. So, after months and months of wear and tear, going over the mundane and boring process of trial and error, I managed to create something that's slightly more of a novel than not. It was called Against the Line. Rewrites began, and so, I have this little project on my computer.

Still, I am a long ways off before it's even being considered publish-worthy. This is technically my first serious novel, unlike the several others that I just jotted up between my friends and I. Otherwise, there has not been a project I've never been so daunted by. Against the Line involves political intrigue, geo-politics, war, drama, love, yaddayaddayadda.... Anyway, it's a lot.

But, to be optimistic, I've done a lot of research, and before long, I'll be done this thing, and it will be up. But, I must say, with much deliberation and however much it pains me, that I must place my beloved project on the back-burner. For now, that is. I want to start writing other projects, to freshen up the computer screen with different characters, different settings and times, and different genres. I find it very important that I have a sort of résumé ahead of R. J. Grimes, however minuscule, so I can gain some knowledge and experience on the career as a writer. So, really, whatever I have coming out for a new book will be probably be a burner-novel, an expendable work that I can learn from if I either fail or succeed, and it would not harm my beloved series at all.

So that's that, really, I'm not sure what to say next. My next book, which will be something completely different, is just on the brain-storming level. The characters are not even made, but the concept and premise is in its infancy, just recently born from the recess of my dank and dreary brain.

So, with that being said,

Title Changed

This was a decision I realized after I edited the heck out of the novel. I was prompted to consider a new title. As much as it pains me to say this, however, the novel will be delayed just to the middle of 2013.

Now, without further adieu, I present to you: Against the Line.

Suspenseful title, huh? Yeah... I know!
