Delayed Publication.

Okay, I've said that I'll get this novel out before early November. That set date is now a no-go, and I may not be able to get it out before then. The odds are against me here, so I'll consider an early 2013 release. Maybe January, or Feburary. I'll keep you updated on what I'm about to do.

But for now,

They call it a Writer's Block. I call it a total and absolute malfunction of the brain, followed by it frying, with half of it shutting down on me, rendering me useless.

Becuase that is exactly what's been going on over the past two to three months. I completely hated writing Intolerance for some time because I got fed up with all those rules about sentencing and what not. So, being me, I promptly threw in dozens and dozens of fragmented sentences, changed the entire dynamic of my prose to first person, and probably made a few typos along the way. That way, I can actually write some what. I'm about 20% through the book AGAIN, and I'm making sure I got things all worked out for my story and making sure I don't screw up this next draft like I did for the last... what was it? Third, forth time I had to write a rather large amount of the novel? Anyway, that's what's up. I'm worried that my previous said release date, the one between now and November 4th, may not actually happen. If I'm lucky, then yeah, I could, but for now, I'm expecting it say during December, maybe early 2013. I don't know. What I do know is that I need a writing buddy. This whole journey of writing a full-length action novel is proving a ton more difficult that I thought it would be. Maybe my complete disarray of the brains are making life harder for me. Ooooh well. Like what my *best friend says, "C'est la vie."

That's life.

With that being said, I am going to go brush my teeth and head to work. (Sadly, that isn't writing. I wonder how much I actually will write today...)

Aaaaaaand. I'm outta here.

Who am I?

Well, you probably know about this Intolerance that I'm writing, an action-thriller set in the near future, when the world falls into a World War 3. That's what you know. What you don't know is me. I mean, why would you want to buy a book from someone you don't have clue who he or she is. Well, here you go:

My name is R.J. Grimes. I am a new writer that is self-publishing this new novel, and I am 18 years of age. Based somewhere in northwestern Maine, I am a simple young man who (I hope) possesses the mind to write such a huge and complex novel. I like to believe that I have what it takes to be as good as the big named writers, like Tom Clancy, and so on and so forth, however, judgment of my writing skills is up to the reader if you want to read my novel. I speak of important matters that I hope readers take notice, all the while tied into a complex story in which America is found at the recieving end of a major conflict.

This is a short post, but I felt it was a necessity for those who might have taken interest in this novel to know who is writing it.

Thanks,

R. J. out.

Paperbacks, Hardcovers, Ebooks, oh my!

Either paperback, hardcover, or Ebook. A bit of a decision for when preparing to publish a novel. People are different and like to read different kinds of books, for instance, certain genres, and in this case, the size of the book. For me, I like paperbacks. They're small and I can stow it away on my desk by my bed for whenever I'm reading a chapter or two before hitting the hay. Hardcovers decorate a bookcase quite nicely, and Ebooks are very, very convenient if you don't want to carry extra luggage with you on a journey. Just pull out a Kindle, Ipod or Ipad, and voila, you're reading your favorite book.

When it comes to Inolerance, I've spent some time consdering how I'm going to have my package delivered. I've thought an action-thriller would be appropriate in small sizes, like Ebooks or paperback, but never hardcover. I felt my book was more modern and deserved the small package. But then, I have to consider how my potential, yet hypothetical, audience would think. So, right now, I have decided that it would be best if I release Intolerance to all three formats. I would reach more people that way.

Starting by the end of 2012, I will release Intolerance to the general public and I will begin my journey as an author. Be sure to Like my Facebook Page, Follow me on Twitter, and visit my official website.

Thanks,

Rewriting...

Every writer knows it. After you write your first rough draft, you know you hit the second act of the writing process. Rewrites. I finished the first draft of my book and just started the editing process. So far, I got the 2nd Draft of the first twelve pages. I now just have to go through 410 pages, editing them before I start on the third draft, and then seeing what I can do from there.

That rough draft does see a lot of slicing and dicing, and most of the time, it's hardly ever what you first wrote. That's for the case of a bad writer. To see so much gone in the first draft is a dead give-away that you suck at it. That's how I see it. I just hope I don't see that with Intolerance, then no one would want to buy my book once I publish it.

To me, rewriting is a far more difficult process than basically writing. When I write, I don't bother with most things, yet I make sure I keep characters in line, the plot and story on the straight path, and my prose correct. And then you need to go back, line by line, making sure that everything is perfect. Having to dictate every line, every letter! is far more difficult than thinking of it and then writing it down. And again, I don't nitpick every darned line when I first write a rough draft. That's not me. I try to blow through it before I turn back.

This process should take me a while. Good thing Summer is coming, I can spend a lot of time outside polishing my project. I'm still not exactly sure when I can publish Intolerance. I have so much on that plate there. My first issue is trying to reorganize my brain so I can get down to it. I have been trying to regain my lost willpower. I'm actually surprised I write an entire novel...

Anyway, this is how it is. Thinking of it in a three-act structure, I just hit the second act and the twists and turns have commenced. And I thought the first act was bad enough. HA! Don't be so silly, brain. Don't be silly...

Closing In

Well... I'm almost finished... Not the book, ready for publishing, but my first draft! Such a silly thought! No, I have written 400 pages of my novel, Intolerance, and hope to finish it soon. Right now, I'm suffering a bit of mental exhaustion, and I can hardly continue the next chapter. I should recover soon, I hope. In the meantime, I blog! Better to write about something else if you can't figure out what to do in your project, eh?

Anyhow... What to think about... I'm not sure. I could just write about every random thing that pops into my head, but I'm sure you don't wanna know what's in my head right now. :)

But one thing is certain! This time change we had recently sucks! I mean, it sucks. Why should we ever adhere to such a thing? I wished I lived in Arizona, or where time changes don't happen...

Anyway... I can't write. It spent a day writing a huge scene, and I just fried my brain... Kinda sucks getting this, but I guess its payback for staying up too late. I actually hoped to finish it by Friday, but that didn't happen...

Lesson learned: Don't EVER write that many pages at once. Ever. Again.

That is all,

R. J.

Intolerance

2020. Eight years since the total collapse of the world economic structure, the world is now standing strong, finally repaired from the devestation that once gripped everyone. Now, war is looming. Countries feign hatred against its enemies, and animosity grows toward the United States. War is soon to come to the impregnable country. It is only a matter of time.

What is my Mission?

My name is R. J. Grimes, and you are probably wondering what I'm doing, exactly. You must have read my Twitter and Facebook pages, if not, check them out. I am going to self-publish this novel soon to paperbacks and Ebooks everywhere. Starting with a Publish-on-Demand (POD) site, Lulu.com will be the homepage of this book.
I am currently writing it, I am almost finished my first draft, which means I will be enduring many months (hopefully), of rewrites. This is my first debut in the real world, and I hope you check out my pages for more information. I will not delve into more info about this book right now, but when the time is right, I will release the title of this novel on all of my pages and sites, including here, this blog.
I hope you check my things! You'll here more from me, and it might just be more about the book!

Thanks! R. J. Grimes
